What we record
For each request we store the name or phrase you entered, the time, your visitor ID and your IP address. We use this to count visitors and requests, and to stop any one person from asking for too many new answers: each visitor can ask for up to 20 names or phrases that haven't been asked before in any 24-hour period. Answers already saved are unlimited. When you arrive from another site, we note which site it was (for example "google"), not the page you were on.
Where answers come from
New names and phrases are sent to Anthropic's Claude to answer them; only the name or phrase itself is sent, nothing about you. Answers are saved so the next person gets them instantly. They may contain mistakes, and an editor may review and correct them.
Contact form
If you write to us through the contact form, we keep your name, email address, message, visitor ID and IP address, and email the message to the site's editors. Your email address is used only to reply to you. You can send up to 5 messages a day.
